GREENLINE - Green Electrified Ultrafast In-Line Heat Treatment for Net-Zero Forging and Casting - is developing and demonstrating a novel in-line heat treatment process for Europe’s forging and casting industries.
Conventional production typically allows components to cool after forging or casting before reheating them later for heat treatment. GREENLINE takes a different approach: it exploits the residual heat already contained in freshly manufactured components and combines ultra-fast cooling with a compact, modular electric furnace.
By directly transferring hot components into an integrated in-line heat treatment process, GREENLINE aims to eliminate the conventional reheating step, reduce energy consumption and CO₂ emissions, shorten production lead times, and maintain compliance with metallurgical standards.

From Energy-Intensive Heat Treatment to
an Integrated In-Line Process
Traditional heat treatment processes in the forging and casting industries are notoriously energy-intensive, relying heavily on fossil-fueled batch furnaces. GREENLINE fundamentally redesigns this paradigm.
By integrating highly efficient, electrically powered heat treatment directly into the production line (in-line processing), we harness the residual heat from the forming processes. This direct integration eliminates the need for reheating cold parts, drastically reducing both energy consumption and CO2 emissions while maintaining the stringent mechanical properties required by modern industry.
